Unilever House at 100 Victoria Embankment, EC4Y 0DY is a Grade II listed Art Deco building facing the River Thames. Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, in consultation with English Heritage and City of London embarked on an ambitious re-development of the building’s work space. The building façade was de-constructed and 95 per cent of materials and equipment from the original building were recycled. A large atrium was installed with centralized lifts, providing a more modern open plan work space. The ground floor now includes public exhibition space and conference areas. Relocating the restaurant to the upper floors, the addition of a roof garden and installing a café in the ground floor were key features of the re-development. English Heritage stipulated that the build allowed for uninterrupted views of St Pauls’ Cathedral from the South Bank and Waterloo Bridge. Our BMS build therefore included removal of mechanical plant from the roof. The project secured a BREEAM Excellent rating based on sustainability, conservation and energy efficiency. Carbon emissions were reduced by 25 percent.
To date, SCI have completed BMS fit-out works at Unilever House for our clients Overbury, BW, ISG and Sodexo, with contracts totalling more than £1.65 million. In addition to being a key BMS Upgrade project for SCI, we have also secured the Sodexo BMS Maintenance contract for the building.
Our main client at the site is Sodexo, with our BMS contracts valued at ~£750,000. We have completed numerous project works including upgrades of Fan Coil Units (FCU) of levels 1 to 3 and Main Plant BMS on the roof, ground floor, level 3 and basement areas. New chillers and Tenants metering lighting and power projects have also been completed, along with M7T Software installation and Systems Commissioning
